Cortese Giuseppe

Giuseppe Cortese's winery is located in Strada Rabajà, in Barbaresco, a small village in the heart of the Langhe, on the top of a gentle hill with the Tanaro river at its feet. The Cortese family, who have been cultivating these vineyards for three generations, own eight hectares in the middle of Rabajà. This vineyard is one of the most suitable cru for the production of Barbaresco, thanks to its favourable south-west exposure, 40-year-old vines and perfect drainage.

The Cortese winery has always shown great love and a strong connection with its land, to which it dedicates careful and rigorous care, but above all, great respect. In its vineyards, the Cortese winery does not use chemical weed killers or any invasive treatment. In recent times Pier Carlo and Tiziana, Giuseppe's children, have renovated the old cellar. Now, in the large, totally underground rooms, the wine rests in large Slavonian or French oak barrels and in barriques (30% of them new), and finds the right humidity and temperature for optimal ageing, which gives it those peculiarities typical of wines with great complexity and elegance.

Over time, the Giuseppe Cortese brand has established itself among enthusiasts for the genuine and vibrant character of a classic Barbaresco, as tradition requires. The production of Barbaresco Rabajà, also available in Riserva version, has been joined by other typical wines of the territory: brilliant and elegant interpretations, which are the result of a unique love for their land.
