Grasso Elio

Grasso Elio

The Langhe territory was completely different 30 years ago: the countryside was scarcely populated, many vineyards were abandoned or poorly cared for, hopes and dreams were scarce, and only a handful of entrepreneurs were willing to give up their permanent jobs in factories or offices. It was at that time that a group of courageous individuals decided to return to the land and focus on the great quality that the soil, the vines and the work of man could provide. One of these was Elio Grasso, a man of great generosity, who was always ready to put himself on the line for the revival of this exceptional wine-producing area.

Over the years Elio Grasso has become a point of reference in the Langhe area. Today he continues to lead this great winery in the town of Monforte together with his wife Marina Fontana, his son Gianluca, who has been with him since 1996, and Enrico Marchisio. The cellar, dug deep into the hill behind the house, guarantees ideal temperature and humidity conditions for the vinification and maturation of the wines. The vineyards are surrounded by woods, which are personally monitored and cared for to prevent them from being abandoned. The sensitivity towards maintaining a balanced agricultural ecosystem can be seen in these choices, which go far beyond the vineyard.

All of this contributes to the production of impeccable wines, which express a precise style that enhances the territoriality of the vineyards and the land. The productions of the Elio Grasso winery are of the highest quality, with great attention to detail. Every harvest is capable of offering wines with a strong and complex character, which is typical of the territory.
