Barbaresco 'Albesani Borgese' Piero Busso 2010

The farm Piero Busso is a small family business, founded in 1953 in the heart of the best Barbaresco crus and still engaged in the enhancement of this cult wine from the Langhe. The production philosophy of the Busso family sees the wine only through the respect of the territory: from this basic idea descend the careful selection of vines, the choice of vineyards with optimal soils and exposure, the absolute lack of chemical treatments. All these conditions, which are essential for the Busso family in the harvest perspective, are not betrayed by an industrial or standardized vinification: each process in the cellar of Piero Busso is aimed to produce a wine that primarily meets the fruit in the taste and in the origin. With no intrusive intervention, the wines of Piero Busso arise solely from the exclusive relationship between the vine, the vineyard and the vintage: the same concept applies to the Barbaresco Borgese, from the extraordinary Albesani cru of Neive. The grapes which flow into Barbaresco Borgese come from limestone and clay soils that can give high aromatic complexity, with optimal exposures to southwest and an altitude of nearly 320 meters. Long macerated to allow a proper polyphenol extraction and aged for 18 months in large barrels of the Piemonte tradition, Barbaresco Borgese interprets the ability of Piero Busso to read every nuance of his home territory and make it converge towards uniqueness and personality.
